Man indicted on 44 counts of organized retail theft

PHOENIX — A 30-year-old man has been indicted on multiple organized retail theft charges from a crime spree that lasted nearly a year.
According to a press release issued by the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, Hector Manuel Romero allegedly engaged in a series of thefts targeting various retail stores between November 2023 and September 2024.
The stores included Target, Ulta Beauty, Lowe’s and The Home Depot.
Per the release, over the course of 44 incidents, Romero allegedly stole approximately $37,000 worth of merchandise.
Romero was arrested on Sept. 21.
He has been indicted on 44 charges of organized retail theft and two counts of shoplifting.
