PHOENIX – Vice President Kamala Harris is holding a rally in Arizona on Thursday evening, a day after the start of early voting and three days before former President Donald Trump visits the state.
Harris is set to appear at the Rawhide Western Town and Event Center in Chandler, just south of the Wild Horse Pass Resort and Casino.
The rally is already at capacity, according to the online event listing. Harris is expected to speak around 6:30 p.m. after flying in from Nevada.
How often has Kamala Harris campaigned in the Grand Canyon State?
It will be the vice president’s third trip to Arizona since she moved to the top of the Democratic ticket in July, when President Joe Biden ended his reelection bid.
She spoke about border security and immigration reform at the U.S.-Mexico border in Douglas last month and rallied at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale with her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, in August.
Both presidential tickets are making big pushes this week in Arizona, where early voting for the Nov. 5 general election started Wednesday.
Walz and his Republican counterpart, Ohio Sen. JD Vance, made multiple campaign stops in the Grand Canyon State on Wednesday.
Trump will keep the chain going with a rally at the Findlay Toyota Center in Prescott Valley at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Who leads in Arizona: Kamala Harris or Donald Trump?
Arizona is getting so much attention because it is considered one of just seven swing states where the result of the presidential race remains in doubt, along with Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
The data backs up the Grand Canyon State’s status as a battleground. The polling average compiled by RealClearPolitics showed Trump with a slim lead of 0.9 percentage points in the state as of Thursday morning. Trump was leading in the website’s polling average by 5.8 points over Biden before the president ended his reelection bid.
The polling average compiled by FiveThirtyEight has Trump up by 1.3 percentage points as of Thursday, although it showed the race tied as recently as Sept. 18.
