PHOENIX — Just when you thought Monopoly couldn’t get better, it has. The latest edition released Tuesday highlights the “West’s Most Western Town”: Scottsdale.

The city edition was presented by Top Trumps USA, which created the game under license from Hasbro, at the Arizona Boardwalk with guests Mayor David Ortega, Miss Arizona Melody Pierce and local business owners.

“We consider the Scottsdale edition of Monopoly to be one of our best city editions of the game yet,” Katie Hubbard of Top Trumps USA said in a press release.

“Not only did we incorporate feedback from the public on what essential businesses and landmarks should be included, but we have created stunning ‘only-in-Scottsdale’ visuals to accompany the board.”

Landmarks, businesses, cultural attractions and other destinations on the board include:

  • Old Town Scottsdale
  • London Gold
  • McDowell Sonoran Preserve
  • Gateway Trailhead
  • Pinnacle Peak Park
  • Indian Bend Wash Greenbelt
  • The Phoenician
  • Scottsdale Water
  • Fairmont Scottsdale Princess
  • World’s Finest Golf
  • Tom’s Thumb Trailhead
  • Scottsdale Air Tour
  • Marshall Way Bridge at AZ Canal
  • Scottsdale Stadium
  • OdySea Aquarium
  • Pearce Family Foundation
  • Butterfly Wonderland
  • Canal Convergence
  • City Hall
  • Civic Center
  • Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art
  • Brown’s Ranch Trailhead
  • Parada De Sol
  • Make-a-Wish Arizona
  • Western Spirit
  • Old Adobe Mission
  • Lost Dog Wash Trailhead
  • Scottsdale Charros
  • Bob Parks Bronze Horse Fountain

The community, local businesses and nonprofits were asked for input in May on which locations should be put on the board spaces.

Other localized versions of the game include Lake Tahoe, Napa Valley, The Hamptons and Palm Springs.

The Scottsdale edition board game is available online and at stores, including Barnes & Noble Scottsdale, Kactus Jock and The Poisoned Pen. It retails for $44.95-$49.95.
