PHOENIX — An 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a teenager in Phoenix over the weekend, authorities said Tuesday.

Julian Francisco Soto was booked Monday into Maricopa County Jail on multiple felony counts, including murder and aggravated assault, the Phoenix Police Department said.

Soto is accused of shooting 15-year-old Bryan Perez around 9:30 p.m. Saturday night.

Police said Perez and other juveniles were leaving the parking lot of a convenience store near 43rd Avenue and Thomas Road when somebody shot in their direction.

Perez was hit by one round. The juveniles with Perez took him to a hospital, where he was initially reported to be in critical condition.

On Monday, police said that Perez died of his injuries and homicide detectives established probable cause to arrest Soto.

No other details were immediately available.
