PHOENIX — The Scottsdale Police Department is investigating after two cars were set on fire using Molotov cocktails in the past 10 days.

The first incident occurred at a retail complex near Hayden Road and Via de Ventura at about 7:50 p.m. on Jan. 7 when a Silver Lexus RX350 was ignited.

Exactly a week later, witnesses told police they heard a loud crash and saw a black Tesla Model S on fire at the Postino restaurant near Scottsdale Road and Highland Avenue.

Bystanders used dirt to put out the fire at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, according to police.

An investigation into the car fires and whether they are connected is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call Scottsdale police at 480-312-5000 or 480-312-8477.
