PHOENIX — The fiancé of Cooper Lamb, Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb’s son, died Friday from injuries she sustained in a car crash a week earlier, the sheriff said.
“Last night, our sweet Caroline passed away,” Lamb said in a Facebook post on Saturday. “She went home to be with Cooper and Elaine. Please keep her family in your prayers.”
Lamb’s son and 1-year-old grandchild, Elaine, died in the Gilbert crash near Elliott and Recker roads on Dec. 16, according to the Gilbert Police Department.
Caroline Patten, 22, was in critical condition a week after a pickup truck hit the family while they were turning left, police said.
“We’re having peace in knowing that they’re together as a family and that’s what they would’ve wanted,” Janel Lamb, wife of Sheriff Lamb, said in a video.
The driver of the pickup, who was not injured in the crash, was arrested on suspicion of impairment.
