PHOENX — Police arrested a sex offender in a suspicious vehicle near Buckeye Elementary School on Monday on suspicion of DUI.
Just after 3 p.m. on Monday, Buckeye police were alerted of 40-year-old Miguel de Jesus Ramirez Diaz driving in a white car driving back and forth in an alley where students exit the campus at the end of the day, Buckeye Police Department said in a release.
Staff also said he was parked nearby and watching the children on a playground.
The school’s resource officer attempted a traffic stop when he sped off and blew past a stop sign.
Officers found his car a second time near Monroe and 5th streets where he ignored many commands and drove away, nearly hitting many cars, police said.
Officers stooped him near Miller and Baseline roads where he showed signs of impairment.
He was arrested and booked on multiple felony charges. Investigators later learned Ramirez Diaz is currently on probation for a sex crimes conviction, according to the release.
