Detectives investigate house party shooting that left 1 dead, 7 injured in Phoenix

PHOENIX — A shooting at a house party in Phoenix left one man dead and seven others injured Saturday night, authorities said.
Officers responded to the area of Elwood Street and 63rd Avenue at about 9:30 p.m. to a shooting call with several people being taken to a local hospital by friends and family, the Phoenix Police Department announced in a press release.
Police learned the suspect, 19-year-old Dominick Joel Herrera, shot into a large group of people in the front yard of a house.
Herrera vacated the area in an unidentified vehicle before officers responded.
Four victims remained on scene when officers arrived and four others were taken to a hospital.
One adult man, 37-year-old Patrick Fowler, died from his wounds at the hospital. Six victims, including a teenage boy, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and one adult was hospitalized in critical condition.
Detectives took over the investigation.
