PHOENIX — A shooting at a house party in Phoenix left one man dead and seven others injured Saturday night, authorities said.

Officers responded to the area of Elwood Street and 63rd Avenue at about 9:30 p.m. to a shooting call with several people being taken to a local hospital by friends and family, the Phoenix Police Department announced in a press release.

Police learned the suspect, 19-year-old Dominick Joel Herrera, shot into a large group of people in the front yard of a house.

Herrera vacated the area in an unidentified vehicle before officers responded.

Four victims remained on scene when officers arrived and four others were taken to a hospital.

One adult man, 37-year-old Patrick Fowler, died from his wounds at the hospital. Six victims, including a teenage boy, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and one adult was hospitalized in critical condition.

Detectives took over the investigation.

Anybody with information about the case was asked to call the Phoenix Police Department at 602-262-6151 or, to remain anonymous, Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (948-6377) or 480-TESTIGO (837-8446) for Spanish.

We want to hear from you.
