PHOENIX — More than 1,000 athletes will show off their skills at the Special Olympics Arizona’s 2022 Fall Games in the West Valley.

Participants will compete in swimming at the Surprise Aquatic Center and softball and bocce events at Pioneer Community Park in Peoria Friday and Saturday.

The Fall Games opening ceremonies will take place on Friday from 7-9 p.m. at Surprise Stadium with an athletes dinner at 5 p.m.

“We are so excited to kick off the 2022 Fall Games and welcome our athletes from all across the state of Arizona,” Jamie Heckerman, president and CEO of Special Olympics Arizona, said in a press release.

“This is one of our biggest competitions of the year and a great way to celebrate our athletes throughout the state.”
