PHOENIX — Four people were arrested after nine migrants were found inside a cattle trailer during a traffic stop in Nogales, federal authorities said.

Agents pulled over a semitrailer pulling a cattle trailer on Oct. 1 around 1 a.m. and found the migrants hidden beneath a false floor, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection said in a press release.

The driver and passenger of the semitruck were arrested, as well as two others from a Ford pickup truck that was at the scene. The vehicles were believed to be driving in tandem.

The driver of the semitrailer, a United States citizen, will face smuggling charges, the release said.

Migrants at the scene were arrested and processed for immigration violations.
