PHOENIX — Arizona Attorney General candidates Kris Mayes and Abe Hamadeh faced off in a debate Wednesday night.

Mayes, the Democratic candidate, was the Arizona Corporation Commissioner from 2003-10 before becoming a senior sustainability scientist and professor at Arizona State University’s School of Global Sustainability.

Here’s her last appearance on KTAR News:

Hamadeh, a Republican, is an intelligence officer in the U.S. Army Reserve and a former prosecutor of the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

Here is his last appearance on KTAR News:

Mayes was unopposed in her primary election, while Hamadeh defeated Rodney Glassman and Andrew Gould in the Republican primary.

Potential topics during the debate include abortions — with last week’s near-total ban ruling at the forefront  — and elections.

The moderators of the 30-minute event will be Ted Simons of Arizona PBS and reporter Stacey Barchenger of the Arizona Republic.
