Firefighters rescue 2 cats trapped in closet while Phoenix house burned

PHOENIX – Firefighters rescued two cats while battling a blaze at a Phoenix house on Tuesday morning, authorities said.
Crews were dispatched to a residence near 16th Street and Broadway Road around 10:20 a.m. and found smoke and flames coming from the backyard, the Phoenix Fire Department said in a press release.
They secured a water supply and “aggressively attacked the fire,” Capt. Todd Keller said in the release.
While clearing the house of occupants, firefighters found two cats trapped in a bedroom closet and got them out safely.
Two residents were displaced by the fire.
Investigators were working to determine the cause of the blaze.
No other details were immediately available.
