PHOENIX – A driver suspected of being under the influence of drugs was arrested after a motorcyclist was killed in a multivehicle crash early Tuesday in Goodyear, authorities said.
Christopher Clark, 40, was booked into jail for vehicular manslaughter in the death of 19-year-old Carson Smith, according to the Goodyear Police Department.
Clark also faces counts of aggravated assault, DUI, DUI drugs and reckless driving, police said.
Investigators determined that Clark was under the influence when he drove through a red light at Pebble Creek Parkway and Interstate 10 around 1:50 a.m. That caused a collision with another vehicle and Clark’s motorcycle, police said.
Clark was unresponsive at the scene when officers arrived and died after being taken to a hospital, police said.
