PHOENIX — A teenage boy was arrested for allegedly killing a man and injuring a woman in a weekend shooting at a north Phoenix strip mall, authorities said.
The accused shooter, identified only as a juvenile in his late teens, was booked on numerous felony charges, including second-degree murder, the Phoenix Police Department said in a press release Monday.
Officers were called to the area near 19th Avenue and Bell Road around 4:15 p.m. Saturday and shortly after found 18-year-old Miguel Rosas suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
A woman in a nearby business was also struck by gunfire, but police don’t believe she was a target.
Fire personnel pronounced Rosas dead at the scene and took the woman to a hospital with injuries that weren’t life-threatening.
Police said information shows there was an exchange of gunfire between a few individuals.
Three people were detained and interviewed, but were later released.
