PHOENIX — Two people were arrested Friday afternoon for allegedly shooting a woman during a verbal dispute about money earlier in the day in Scottsdale.
Aron Melvin, 24, and Sincere Hooks-Lilly, 23, were arrested during a traffic stop after detectives identified them as the suspects in a shooting at a short-term rental near Hayden Road and McDowell Road around 4 a.m., the Scottsdale Police Department said in a press release.
Authorities said the incident stemmed from an argument over money owed to a different person at the house due to damage to personal property.
The victim was shot in her thigh, chest and buttocks, requiring tourniquets and chest seals before being transported to a hospital.
Police said the suspects and the victim got into an argument after returning from a nightclub in Phoenix, but the suspects lefts the residence. They allegedly returned to the residence around 4 a.m. and shot the victim.
Melvin and Hooks-Lilly will be booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail on charges including attempted second-degree murder.
A third individual, Leon Morgan, 23, was a witness to the incident and was arrested during the traffic stop on charges unrelated to the shooting.
Morgan has since been released.
