Lou Malnati’s, Cold Beers and Cheeseburgers added to new Surprise mall

Aug 24, 2022, 8:00 AM | Updated: 10:20 am

PHOENIX – Two of the more popular restaurant chains in the Valley – Lou Malnati’s and Cold Beers and Cheeseburgers – are expanding to Surprise.

The pizza and burger joints will make new homes at the Village at Prasada, the outdoor mall at Loop 303 and Waddell Road that is expected to open in the fall.

It will be the eighth metro Phoenix location for Lou Malnati’s, the deep-dish Chicago piemaker that debuted locally in May 2016, and the 13th for Scottsdale-based Cold Beers and Cheeseburgers.

Both restaurants are anticipated to begin serving up at the 700,000-square-foot upscale retail center in late 2023.

“It is really exciting to be bringing these restaurant concepts to the West Valley, an area that is growing at an exceptional rate,” Joshua Simon, CEO of SimonCRE, which is developing the mall, said in a press release.

“Anyone that lives in Surprise knows how long they currently have to drive to visit some of these existing restaurants’ locations, so being able to give them the food that they want in a center that is more convenient for them, that’s the dream as a developer.”

They will be in a section of the shopping center called Street Fare at Alexandria that also includes Barrio Queen, OHSO Brewery, Barrio Queen, Firebirds and Cooper’s Hawk.
