PHOENIX — Grocery chain Sprouts will open a store with a two-story parking garage at the redeveloped Papago Plaza in Scottsdale.
Construction on the Valley-based supermarket’s 23,000-square-foot location on the southwest corner of Scottsdale and McDowell roads is expected to begin early next year and is expected to open in 2024.
“The neighborhood has long requested a high-quality grocer,” Lee Mashburn, president of Pivot Development, which owns Papago Plaza, said in a press release.
“We are very excited to satisfy the request of nearby residents and businesses.”
The store will be the fourth Scottsdale location and 34th in metro Phoenix.
It’ll be one of several retail and residential spots to make its home at the plaza.
The developers acquired the 13-acre Papago Plaza in 2015 and have started leasing for a new five-story apartment complex with 276 units called SEVENTYONE15 McDowell.
A 72,000-square-foot SpringHill Suites hotel will also occupy space in the plaza.
Three buildings for restaurant and retail use are in the works and expected to open in the second quarter of 2023.
The smallest of the restaurant/retail buildings, at 5,825 square feet, will replace the existing Wells Fargo bank building.
The other two buildings, one 8,000 square feet and the other 11,200 square feet, will be separated by a grassy “restaurant park” area.
