PHOENIX – The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will hold its 2022 national conference in Phoenix this fall, with a kick-off reception set for Thursday night.

Registration is now open for the Oct. 2-4 convention at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown, which is billed as the nation’s largest gathering of Hispanic business leaders. It falls during Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15.

Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego is scheduled to join local and national business leaders at Thursday’s two-hour preview event at the hotel, which starts at 6 p.m.

The theme of October’s conference is Igniting America’s Economic Prosperity.

The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce advocates for the nation’s 5 million Hispanic-owned businesses.

Ramiro Cavazos, the organization’s president and CEO, said that when minority businesses thrive, it’s good for the entire economy.

“I’m proud to be Hispanic,” he told KTAR News 92.3 FM’s Arizona’s Morning News on Thursday. “But it’s really not at the expense of any other ethnic group or American. It’s really just to create wealth and prosperity in future generations within our Latino community, because we need these successes so we can continue to grow the country for all of us.”

We want to hear from you.
