PHOENIX — A group of supporters of former President Donald Trump armed themselves and gathered at the FBI office in Phoenix on Saturday to protest the recent search of his Mar-a-Lago home.
People were seen carrying pistols and assault-type rifles between 10 a.m. and noon while claiming last week’s search of Trump’s home in Florida was illegal, according to CNN.
A group of 25 people were “peacefully exercising their First Amendment rights, staying on the sidewalks and across the street,” FBI spokesperson Kevin Smith said about the protests.
He added that there were five people carrying weapons in a safe fashion and didn’t cause any problems.
The weapons are legal under Arizona’s open carry gun laws.
FBI agents searched Trump’s estate as part of an investigation into whether he took classified records from the White House to his residence.
