Tempe police clear Arizona Mills Mall as shooting investigation is underway

PHOENIX — Tempe police were clearing Arizona Mills Mall Friday night after a man allegedly shot a gun, authorities said.
The incident started sometime around 6 p.m. when officers were called to the mall about reports of a man with a gun, the Tempe Police Department said in a press release.
Officers said an altercation broke out between two men, which led to one pulling out a firearm arm and pointing it at the other.
The suspected armed man ran into the mall before police arrived, the release said.
Police worked to clear the mall and as of 7 p.m. were still searching for the suspect.
It is unknown if the man discharged his firearm inside or outside the mall, as police are still working to collect witness statements.
There were no injuries reported due to the incident.
No additional information was available.
