Father of missing geologist to hold remembrance event in Phoenix this weekend

PHOENIX — The father of a missing geologist last seen in Buckeye almost one year ago is holding a commemorative event on Saturday to honor him and other missing individuals from Arizona.

The event will take place at the State Capitol located near Van Buren Street and 19th Avenue from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., according to a press release.

Those with missing loved ones are invited to share their stories, while also honoring 24-year-old Daniel Robinson, who went missing on June 23, 2021.

He was last seen leaving his worksite near Sun Valley Parkway and Cactus Road just after 9 a.m.

A rancher found Robinsons’ Jeep Renegade on its side in a ravine on July 19, 2021, about 3 miles southwest of the worksite. It was on its side with the air bags deployed, and his cellphone, wallet and keys were found at the scene.

Police said they believed Robinson was wearing a seatbelt when the vehicle rolled, and they didn’t suspect foul play.

“Despite months of my coordinated search and collection of overwhelming evidence that my son went missing in an area of the desert where crimes happened, to date, the Buckeye Police Department investigation has not gathered any evidence of their own,” David Robinson II, father of Daniel Robinson, said in a press release.

“They are unwilling to move beyond their theory of my son’s disappearance as a simple missing person case; this has led to non-action on their part.”

Organizations and nonprofits with available resources to families of the missing were asked to attend.
