PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Public Safety announced Friday the launch of a new way to access the state’s crime data.

The website, Theme-Oriented Public Site (TOPS), was built to provide up-to-date crime statistics based on the National Incident-Based Reporting System and summary data sourced from the department’s Crime Insight repository, according to a press release.

Users can look at crime data on a dashboard the day after local law enforcement provides their submissions.

They’ll have the option to filter through the data by agency, state, year or crime category, officials said.

Reports for the website will be validated and updated nightly.

Before the launch of the dashboard, an annual report of the previous years’ data would be compiled with data received from local law enforcement agencies.

We want to hear from you.
