Police arrest 3 in double shooting that left 1 dead in Mesa

PHOENIX – Police in Mesa arrested three suspects in a double shooting that left one dead and another injured in early spring.
The Mesa Police Department said Tuesday they took Isaiah Enriquez, 19, Richard Mejia, 18, and Devon O’Rourke, 20, into custody late last week after developing probable cause to bring them in for the March 20 homicide of Chase Lemons, 18.
The three suspects were booked on one count each of first-degree murder and armed robbery. Enriquez, who police believe pulled the trigger, was also booked on one count of aggravated assault.
Police said their inquiries put together that the three suspects planned to rob Lemons during a deal for marijuana.
Lemons and the other shooting victim were sitting in a car near Crismon and Baseline roads when they saw the other three coming toward them.
Lemons tried to drive away and was shot at. He and the unidentified passenger were both struck by bullets. Lemons died at a hospital several days later.
Police said they recovered a weapon that matched the caliber of the firearm used to shoot Lemons and that cellphone data placed Enriquez at the murder site.
Bail was set at $2 million for Enriquez, $1 million for Mejia and $350,000 for O’Rourke.
The investigation continues, police said.
