PHOENIX — Arizona’s only Tony Awards voter will be rolling into Radio City Music Hall in New York City next weekend in style thanks to the work of a Valley designer.
Colleen Jennings-Roggensack, ASU Gammage’s executive director, will wear a Princess Diana-inspired lavender dress to the 75th iteration of the Broadway achievements awards show.
The dress, created by designer Melissa Torres, features 1,500 pearls that were applied by hand.
Torres presented the dress to Jennings-Roggensack on Tuesday at ASU Gammage.
“This is a great opportunity for a local designer to have their work seen in New York and among the Broadway crowd,” an ASU spokesperson said in a press release.
Torres had previously been selected to design the dress in 2020, but the Tony Awards were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jennings-Roggensack will show off the dress during the June 12 event, which will be broadcast on CBS.
