Fatal crash closes eastbound Interstate 10 in Avondale for hours

PHOENIX – A fatal multivehicle crash shut down eastbound Interstate 10 in the West Valley on Sunday night and into Monday.

The vehicles collided around 11:30 p.m. Sunday near 107th Avenue in Avondale; the road was closed until Monday at 6:10 a.m. while the Arizona Department of Public Safety investigated.

Traffic was backed up for 5 miles by the time the road was reopened.

No other details were made immediately available.
