PHOENIX – A restaurant fire disrupted traffic at a busy intersection in Phoenix’s uptown neighborhood on Thursday morning, authorities said.

Crews dispatched to Dick’s Hideaway in the Sunbrite Corner plaza at 16th Street and Bethany Home Road found an active fire in the restaurant’s exhaust hood of the kitchen area, the Phoenix Fire Department said.

They evacuated the building, which also houses Luci’s Marketplace and other businesses, and quickly gained control of the fire before it could spread further.

Dick’s Hideaway wasn’t open at the time of the fire, and nobody was injured.

Investigators were working at the scene to determine the cause of the blaze.

Authorities said traffic would to be restricted at the corner of 16th Street and Bethany Home Road for several hours.
