PHOENIX — A massive, multi-use resort near the Westgate Entertainment District in Glendale is set to open in spring 2023.
VAI Resort, previously named Crystal Lagoons Island Resort, had originally aimed to open this year ahead of Glendale’s State Farm Stadium hosting the Super Bowl in February 2023.
There won’t be any scarcity of entertainment options.
The resort will feature over 1,200 luxury hotel suites and rooms, a 360-degree concert stage, 13 fine dining concepts, white sand beaches and Caribbean-blue water.
The goal is for the resort to host artists for more than 100 events annually on the stage.
“Growing up in Arizona, it’s always been my dream to bring some of the best attractions from around the world right to our doorstep,” Grant Fisher, president of VAI Resort, said in a press release.
“From the vibes of Mykonos and Tulum, to the beaches of Miami, to the concerts and parties of Las Vegas, to the ultra-modern attractions of Dubai, we’re bringing the best of the best to VAI Resort right here in the heart of Glendale.”
Another key part of the 60-acre resort near 95th Avenue and Cardinal Way will be a 52,000-square-foot island.
It will also have a 20,000-square-foot spa and wellness center, a wedding chapel and over 40,000 square feet of flexible ballrooms and meeting spaces.
A unique feature will be a 400-foot tethered balloon for guests to take in views of the Valley.
The resort will also be home to a family-friendly Mattel Adventure Park.
VAI Resort is expected to create more than 1,800 jobs in Glendale.
“When you pick your partners well, you can expect great things to happen,” Glendale City Manager Kevin Phelps said in the release. “That’s precisely what we’re experiencing with VAI Resort.”
