PHOENIX – A 15,736-square-foot estate in the shadow of Camelback Mountain sold this week for $21 million, a record amount for a Paradise Valley residence.
The 4.27-acre property near McDonald Drive and Invergordon Road surpassed the previous Paradise Valley high mark: $20.9 million in October 2020 for a home in the same Cameldale neighborhood.
The record-breaker is located in 85253, the most expensive ZIP code for residences in the state and the 50th most expensive in the country. A vacant residential lot there recently sold for $9.4 million.
In addition to seven bedrooms and 14 full bathrooms, the mansion comes with a game room, exercise/sauna room, family room, media room, separate workshop and a library with built-in bookcases.
It also has four garages, a complete guest home and a one-bedroom, one-bathroom casita.
“This is simply the finest estate I have ever listed,” Walt Danley of Walt Danley Christie’s International Real Estate, who represented the unnamed buyer and the seller, said in a press release.
“It strikes the perfect balance between elegance and warmth. It’s perfect for grand-scale entertaining and comfortable family living. The setting in unequalled with breathtaking views out of every window.”
The property was listed with an asking price of $22.5 million in October 2021, and the deal closed on Tuesday.
The selling price was $3.1 million shy of the state-record $24.1 million transaction in October 2020 on a 17-acre estate in Scottsdale’s exclusive Silverleaf community.
