PHOENIX — Banner Health announced Tuesday it plans to build a new hospital in Buckeye.
The comprehensive medical center will be located on the northwest corner of Verrado Way and Interstate 10, adjacent to the existing Banner Health Center, and open in the fall of 2024, according to a press release.
“We want to provide convenient care that is close to home for our patients and their families,” Scott Nordlund, chief strategy and growth officer for Banner Health, said in a press release.
“Buckeye and the surrounding southwest Valley is growing fast, and we want to make sure our patients and health plan members have care close to where they work or live when they want and need it.”
The four-story, 330,000-square-foot hospital will have 120 beds and offer imaging, surgery, labor and delivery, intensive care and an emergency room, according to the release.
There is also room for expansion, with the potential to add more than 300 more beds in a build-out.
The hospital, which has yet to be named, follows the non-profit health care system opening a hospital in Chandler in November 2020.
Banner Health has 13 hospitals in the metro Phoenix area, according to the release.
