PHOENIX – Two Grand Canyon University students were killed in a car crash in eastern Arizona over the weekend, the school announced Thursday.
Chelsea Nicole Valladares, 21, and Kelli Ingle, 22, were senior roommates who enrolled at GCU in 2018, the private Christian university in Phoenix said.
They died after their car hit a guard rail on Interstate 40 near the Arizona-New Mexico border and was struck by a tractor-trailer Saturday night, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
Valladares, who was from Harbor City, California, was studying business management, the school said. Ingle, a resident assistant in Ocotillo Hall from Albuquerque, N.M., was studying biochemistry and molecular biology.
A celebration of life memorial service for family and friends will be held on campus Wednesday evening.
