Arizona DPS trooper finds cocaine, fentanyl after stopping driver from Illinois

PHOENIX – An Arizona state trooper found bundles of cocaine and fentanyl while conducting a traffic stop on an out-of-state driver in Kingman on Tuesday, authorities said.
Raphael R. Morris, 39, of Homer Glen, Illinois, was booked on counts of transporting narcotic drugs for sale and possessing drug paraphernalia, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said in a press release Thursday.
The trooper pulled over Morris’ car for moving violations on Interstate 40 at milepost 44 in Mohave County, DPS said. About 25 pounds of cocaine and 2.2 pounds of suspected fentanyl powder were found hidden in the Chevrolet Malibu during the stop.
DPS said drug dealers often cut cocaine with fentanyl, which is cheaper and creates a more potent and addictive mix.
According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the amount of fentanyl seized during the stop could potentially kill 500,000 people.
