Alfredo Gutierrez is one of the giants of recent Arizona political history.
A political activist, he became a longtime Democratic leader in the Arizona State Senate (including a stint as majority leader), and a political consultant. He remains an astute observer of the Arizona political scene from a unique historical vantage point.
He also has a fascinating life story starting with growing up in the Arizona mining town of Miami, in the 1950s.
We discuss his fascinating life in some detail and then delve into his take on such questions as:
• Why did Donald Trump get about a third of the Hispanic vote in 2020? Why did this proportion actually increase from his 2016 vote?
• Why many Hispanics are ambivalent on the subject of immigration.
Spend some time with one of the most fascinating figures in recent Arizona political history in this week’s Think Tank.
The Think Tank airs on KTAR 92.3 FM on Saturday 6-7 p.m. and Sunday 9-10 p.m.
