PHOENIX — One man has been left dead after a road rage incident in Chandler on Saturday near Gilbert and Germann roads.

Upon arrival, police found a male with a gunshot wound and another male possessing a firearm, authorities said.

The victim, 37-year-old Christopher Pelkey, was transported to the hospital and succumbed to his injuries.

At the time, police did take a suspect into custody, 50-year-old Gabriel Paul Horcasitas.

After an investigation, it was determined the two had an altercation while they were driving northbound on Gilbert Road, police said.

Stopped at a red light on Germann Road, Pelkey exited the driver’s seat of his vehicle and began walking toward Horcasitas’ vehicle, authorities said.

Horcasitas fired multiple rounds from a firearm, striking Pelkey and a nearby vehicle occupied by a family of three, police said.

He will be booked into the Maricopa County Jail on multiple felonies, including first-degree murder, drive-by shooting, and endangerment.
