PHOENIX — Chicago-based deep dish pizzeria Lou Malnati’s announced Friday it will make Gilbert home to its sixth Valley location.

The 1,800-square-foot space at Pecos Road and Val Vista Drive is slated to open by the end of the year and is projected to employ 50 workers, the company said in a press release.

The location won’t include a dining room, but will offer carryout and delivery options.

The company said it is “committed to providing jobs at our restaurants while supporting the local communities we serve.”

Malnati’s anticipates hiring for positions, including delivery drivers, kitchen crew and phone staff.

In addition to operating the pizzeria, the company plans on supporting the local community through fundraising and youth incentive programs, donation programs and working with local charitable organizations in Gilbert and nearby communities, according to the release.

Malnati’s opened its first Valley location in central Phoenix in 2016, followed by a second site in the city’s Arcadia neighborhood, then Scottsdale, Glendale and Mesa.

We want to hear from you.
