Sam Fox to open Fly Bye pizza at north Phoenix shopping center

Oct 10, 2021, 6:15 AM

PHOENIX – A popular Phoenix-area restaurateur is combining a new concept with a little throwback at the second location of his pizza venture opening next year.

Sam Fox plans to roll out another Fly Bye at Desert Ridge Marketplace by summer 2022, but while the original site is to-go only, the newest will offer limited seating.

The menu remains focused on square-pan pizza, chicken wings and tenders and dipping sauces.

“Our goal in creating Fly Bye was to provide a fast, easy and fun experience with delicious comfort food that the whole family can enjoy,” Fox, who oversees Fox Restaurant Concepts, said in a press release earlier this week.

“I hope north Phoenix loves it as much as we do.”

Salads and mozzarella sticks are the other food options.

The new location will also offer online ordering, curbside pickup and contact-free delivery, just as the other site.

The first Fly Bye opened at Seventh Street near Bethany Home Road in Phoenix in December 2020, operating daily from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The restaurant unlocked doors a few weeks before a takeout version of Fox’s Flower Child started serving up farm-fresh salads, bowls and wraps in Tempe.

The Cheesecake Factory bought Fox Restaurant Concepts in 2019 in a deal worth nearly $500 million.

The restaurants from the company Fox founded in Phoenix included Culinary Dropout, The Henry, Zinburger, Olive & Ivy, Doughbird and North Italia.

As part of the package, Fox stayed on to lead the company.
