PHOENIX — A 27-year-old man was arrested in Mesa for allegedly fatally shooting another man in a motel parking lot early Sunday morning, authorities said.
Stevie Jones II was booked into jail Monday on felony charges of first-degree murder and misconduct involving weapons in the death of 28-year-old Michael Gonzalez.
Officers responded to a shots fired call just before 6:45 a.m. at a motel located near the intersection of Main Street and Alma School Road.
Gonzalez was found with several gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.
Police said Jones II shot Gonzalez through the glass of the motel room before following him out to the parking lot and firing several more rounds, authorities said.
