PHOENIX – Police making a welfare check found a woman dead and her three small children unattended but unharmed at a Phoenix apartment on Monday night, authorities said.
The body of 30-year-old Shavone Robinson had obvious signs of trauma, and the case is being investigated as a homicide, the Phoenix Police Department said Tuesday in a press release.
Officers encountered the scene while responding to a call about two children crying on an apartment porch near 19th Avenue and Camelback Road around 7:20 p.m., police said.
The officers located the two toddlers, ages 2 and 3, before entering the apartment, where they found the victim’s body and a 4-week-old infant.
Police learned that Robinson was the mother of the three children, who were taken to a hospital to be evaluated. The kids were released in good condition, police said.
No other information was immediately available.
The homicide investigation is ongoing.
