PHOENIX — Buckeye Fire Chief Bob Costello died Thursday morning, the West Valley city announced.
He was 62. No cause of death was provided.
Costello started working for the city in 2004 and became chief of the Buckeye Fire and Medical Rescue Department in 2008, according to a press release.
Last year, Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey appointed Costello to the state’s Emergency Medical Services Council, which he’d previously served on from 2001 to 2004.
Costello is survived by his wife and a brother.
An Honor Procession was held for Costello on Thursday followed by a prayer from Captain Raul Ochoa of the Glendale Fire Department.
Information about funeral arrangements will be released when they are finalized, the city said.
