PHOENIX — One man was killed and another man is in critical condition following a collision between a motorcycle and bicycle in Phoenix on Saturday.
Authorities say a 17-year-old was traveling northbound on a motorcycle near 24th Street and Thomas Road when he struck a 59-year-old man on a bicycle.
The 17-year-old was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The 59-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased man was identified Monday as Jay Knauss.
Officials say the bicyclist was in the crosswalk when the accident occurred, but it is unknown if the crosswalk was activated.
Speed of the motorcycle may be a factor, according to Phoenix police.
