PHOENIX – Four family members were killed and another was injured in a shooting at a west Phoenix home, authorities said Wednesday.
Police believe 26-year-old Gilbert Gonzalez shot his grandparents, uncle and a family member before turning the gun on himself Tuesday night.
Officers were sent to a house near 65th Avenue and Camelback Road around 6:45 p.m. and found all five shot, Phoenix police said in an email.
Delia Noriega, 66; Isaias Tovar, Sr., 62 and Isaias Tovar, Jr., 31 all died during the incident.
The 19-year-old family member was at a hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.
Police said evidence indicated Gilbert was drinking and making suicidal statements before the shootings.
“It was a family dispute or some type of family issue,” Phoenix Police Sgt. Ann Justus told KTAR News 92.3 FM early Wednesday.
The investigation is ongoing.
