PHOENIX — TV and appliance chain Spencer’s is building a new headquarters in Phoenix with plans to open in January 2022.

The new headquarters will be located at the corner of Loop 202 and 40th Street in the Akimel Gateway project, according to a press release.

Spencer’s has been a staple in the Phoenix area since opening in 1973. They have 10 locations in the Valley.

“When you’re serving customers to the east in Mesa and Gilbert and to the west in Glendale, Goodyear and Arrowhead, a site that provides access to the greater Phoenix metro area is a must,” President Rick Biederbeck said.

A 350,000 square-foot distribution center will also be attached to the corporate headquarters.

“The facility will expand Spencer’s capacity to accommodate the more than 600 deliveries that Spencer’s makes each day with a 38-dock door warehouse facility,” CFO Dennis Reilly said in the release.

The company also announced plans for an 11th store expected to be open in July 2021 near the intersection of 21st Street and Camelback Road in Phoenix.
