Pedestrian runs on to US 60 in Mesa, hit and killed by street sweeper

PHOENIX – A pedestrian who ran onto a Phoenix-area freeway early Tuesday was hit and killed by a street sweeper, authorities said.
The fatal accident on westbound U.S. 60 near Dobson Road in Mesa happened shortly after 5 a.m., the Arizona Department of Public Safety said.
One lane was closed for the investigation and commuters faced a 40-minute delay by 7 a.m.
The lane reopened around 8 a.m.
No other details were immediately available.
