Police arrest 20-year-old for murder at Desert Sky Mall shooting in Phoenix

PHOENIX — Phoenix Police announced the arrest of one man in connection to a shooting at Desert Sky Mall that left one man dead and another injured.
UPDATE: An arrest has been made in the homicide of Alejandro Martinez who was killed at a shopping center near 75th Ave/Mcdowell Rd on 02/14/21. The alleged suspect has been booked in to jail and identified as Alexi Acosta.

Police arrested 20-year-old Alexi Acosta and charged him with one count of homicide and one count of assault, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
On Feb. 14, Phoenix police responded to the mall near 75th Avenue and Thomas Road just before 12:45 p.m. and found two men with gunshot wounds.
One of the gunshot victims, 17-year-old Alejandro Martinez, died at the hospital.
The preliminary investigation indicated both victims went into the mall where there was an argument over merchandise with an employee at a kiosk, according to authorities.
Police said one of the victims displayed a gun and then both were shot.
