The shots are currently limited to people age 65 and older, teachers, child care providers, long-term care facility staff, health care workers and protective services personnel.
CVS stores in Arizona will have a weekly allocation of 9,300 doses during the initial rollout as part of the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program. The number of appointments and stores offering shots will increase as more vaccine becomes available, according to a press release.
The Arizona locations are among 640 CVS pharmacies in 17 states that are starting vaccinations. The company says it will eventually be able to administer more than 20 million shots a month nationwide.
CVS is also continuing work on vaccinating residents and staff at 940 long-term care facilities in Arizona through the federal Pharmacy Partnership for Long-Term Care Program.
For information about statewide vaccine availability, the Arizona Department of Health Services website has a vaccine-finder page with a map of locations and information about registration.
