PHOENIX – Three universities in Arizona, two public and one private, earned high marks for online learning from a leading publisher of news, analysis and rankings.

U.S. News and World Report’s annual rankings released Tuesday put Arizona State University, the University of Arizona and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, which has a campus in Prescott, among the top 10 overall for bachelor’s programs and bachelor degree business programs, including a pair of first places.

ASU finished at the top of the heap for its online undergraduate business program along with the University of Florida, and was No. 6 overall online.

The Tempe-based school had 11 programs finish in the top three in various categories.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University scored first overall for its online bachelor’s programs again. The aeronautical school has held that position in four of the past six years.

It also was rated best online bachelor’s programs for veterans.

The University of Arizona was rated No. 7 overall for its online bachelor’s programs and No. 6 in business programs.

“Meeting our learners where they are includes offering consistently excellent programs in the online space,” ASU Provost Mark Searle said in a press release.

Both state schools finished in the top 10 for online postgraduate business.

“This ranking places us among the nation’s most prestigious online education programs and shows our commitment to flexibility and accessibility. I am very proud of what Arizona Online continues to accomplish,” UA President Robert Robbins said in a press release.

“Embry-Riddle’s innovative approach to education has set the precedent for the online learning experience in higher education. Robust programs and highly qualified and engaged faculty provide a platform for students to succeed,” John R. Watret, chancellor for Embry-Riddle’s Worldwide Campus said in a release.

The rankings were based on four categories: engagement; services and technology; faculty credentials and training; and expert opinion.
