PHOENIX — Disabled American Veterans and Recruit Military will be hosting a free virtual career fair on Thursday for all past and present members of the military and their families.

The virtual career fair will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and feature at least 15 companies hiring for positions in Arizona and around the country. Full-time, part-time, telecommuting, seasonal and internship opportunities are available.

Industries and areas of expertise include accounting and finance, customer service, health care, management, operations, cybersecurity and sales.

Academic institutions will also be involved in the career fair, offering a variety of degree programs such as business and commerce, computer science, liberal arts and engineering.

People can register for the virtual hiring event online.

Interactions between employers and job seekers will be primarily through text chatting, according to the website, but employers do have the ability to initiate one-on-one video chats.

Recruit Military was appointed by the U.S. Army in April to serve the critical needs of transition from the military into the civilian world amidst a global pandemic.

The unemployment rate for veterans 18 years old and over was 5.3% in December, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, up from 2.8% a year ago.
