6 people injured, 1 dead in shooting outside Phoenix nightclub

PHOENIX — One man was left dead and six others were injured following a shooting outside a nightclub in Phoenix on Sunday, police said.
Officers responded to the scene near 24th Street and University Drive around 5 a.m. after reports of multiple people screaming and gunshots fired.
Police said 24-year-old Ahmad Thornton was pronounced dead on the scene, while the remaining victims were transported to the hospital and are receiving treatment for their injuries.
There was a large crowd present at the time of the shooting, according to police, with many potential witnesses.
