Woman, child in critical condition after car hits power pole in Mesa

PHOENIX — A woman and child are in critical condition after a car collided with both a power pole and fire hydrant Saturday morning in Mesa.

Authorities arrived on the scene near Broadway and Dobson roads to find wires down near the vehicle with four passengers inside.

The 23-year-old mother and her 2-year-old child were transported to a local hospital. A 32-year-old male in stable condition was transported as well, while a 1-year-old child was not injured, according to Mesa officials.

SRP and city water crews worked to restore the pole and fire hydrant.

No further information was available at the time.

The investigation is ongoing.
