Veteran Chandler police officer dies after battling COVID-19

PHOENIX – A veteran East Valley police officer has died after “a protracted battle with COVID-19,” the Chandler Police Department announced Tuesday.

Officer Tyler Britt died Monday, leaving behind a wife and son, the department said in a press release.

Britt had been with the Chandler Police Department for 19 years.

“Officer Britt loved being a police officer and cared dearly about the community he served,” the release said. “Please take a moment to remember Tyler and keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.”

No other details were immediately available.
