Seven people were involved in the crash, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

A 52-year-old man and 58-year-old woman were transported to the hospital in critical condition, while a 15-year-old girl was in stable condition.

The four other people involved were evaluated at the scene.

Traffic was being directed to exit at Thomas Road and re-enter at Indian School Road, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Another crash on the southbound lanes at Thomas Road was blocking one lane of traffic as of 7:50 p.m., but that direction of the freeway remained open.
